Big Con readers uncover clues in support of the “false flag” thesis about revelations of the supposed defacement of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial—revelations conveniently timed to discredit the anti-war movement at the most political sensitive time.

jonp72 points out, “Gathering of Eagles already tried to disrupt a March 17, 2007 antiwar march in DC with the stated rationale that they were trying to defend the Vietnam War Memorial from vandalism. Now the vandalism has been discovered by…you guessed it!…Gathering of Eagles.”

ormondotvos offers technical reflections: “From a lifetime of mechanics and motorcycling, I can tell you the first thing I thought of was sprayable motorcycle chain lube with molybdenum disulfide, which is very sticky, black, and staining. The pattern looks like it came from a spray can. I’d sure like to see an analysis comparing it with such products. I’d suspect very few progressives ride bikes with chains…”

And finally jonp72 also notes: “What’s really ironic is that the right wing used to despise the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, because it was designed by an Asian-American woman and it didn’t have any triumphalist statues of guys with weapons.”

He’s right. They called it the “gook monument,” and among those who called it a “monument to Jane Fonda” were Phyllis Schlafly and Tom Wolfe. Short memories on the right. Now they say the Memorial belongs only to them. They literally say this: “They damaged one of our memorials.”

Whatever the ultimate facts of the case, their hate still indicts them.
